Gaza: The Last Stand
BBC's The Last Stand exposes the story of the Israeli disengagement from the Gaza Strip settlements from the unique perspective of the extreme right-wing Israeli settlers. For eighteen months, the BBC filming crew was given unrestricted access into the secret planning and execution of the resistance to the disengagement.
The Last Stand includes a personal video diary of settler leader Datya Itzhaki, following the unfolding drama of people fighting against their government's plan to evict them from their homes. What began as a profile of a settler family about to be relocated, quickly turns into a series of dramatic events, both personal and national, culminating with the Israeli army surrounding the family compound, where the armed Itzhaki family and supporters were barricading themselves on their fortified roof.
