The Sigd Ethipoian Holiday in JerusalemThe Highlight Films archive team have filmed a unique religious ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008. The Sigd, an important holiday for the Ethiopian Jews, was celebrated for the first time as a formal Israeli holiday. Each year, fifty days after Yom Kippur, members of the Ethiopian Jewish community fast and gather on a mountain top overlooking the old city of Jerusalem for a gathering of prayers. Our crew filmed the gathering in Armon Hanatsiv promenade in Jerusalem.The footage is availabe along with excusiive interviews and access to leaders in the community as well as young Ethipians from Israel speaking about it and their life and traditions in Israel.
