We have been providing film, video and TV production services in Gaza since 2005. Among them documentary films, art videos, corporate shoots, news and current affairs reports by international crews going to Gaza.
The Erez checkpoint in southern Israel is the only possible way for journalists to enter Gaza. The border crossing must be coordinated in advance with both the Israeli and the Palestinian Authority officials.
Highlight Films has an excellent production team in Gaza. While our Tel Aviv office is responsible for coordinating the entry procedures, our Gaza team covers everything else: all issues related to logistics, transportation, security and location permitting, including aerial filming by drones in Gaza.
In 2016 we provided production services in Gaza for the artist Ai WeiWei in the production of his documentary film in Gaza. We are now in the pre-production phase of two international documentary project to take place in Gaza.
In 2017 we produced a National Geographic feature in Gaza, as well as news and current affairs report for British and European broadcasters. In 2018 we filmed several German, Dutch and British productions in Gaza.
Our Israeli and Palestinian teams coordinate with each other the border crossing and any changes along the production timeline.
There were several military operations in the last decade. In all of them, we supported a a large number of camera crews and journalists moving back and forth between Gaza and Israel. In such times we usually open an operation center near the Erez border crossing.
We have an extensive video archive of the Gaza strip, including historical footage from the 1980’s and 1990’s, rare aerial footage from 2003, the Israeli pullout of 2005, Military operations in Gaza, and new drone aerial footage of Gaza, filmed in 2017.
